About Sam
This is Sam Randon

The day job
Sam turned 14 in early 2009, and is in Year 9 at John Port School in Etwall, Derbyshire. We live between Asbourne and Derby in an area known locally as the ‘golden triangle’ on the edge of the Peak District surrounded by rolling farmland. His best friend is a mad 6 stone yellow Labrador name Alfie. Sam works part time helping local farmers and of course, enjoys driving the tractors the most. He can already reverse a tractor and a huge grain trailer far better than Dad can reverse the little kart trailer!

Aged 2 - Where are the keys?
As a baby, Sams first word really was “car”, much to his mothers horror. By the time he reached the age of 3 he had already worked out how to start Dads car so he had to hide the keys! He was once found sitting in the rear child seat trying to strap himself in, having already started the engine!!

Driving a Mini at age 13
When he’s not karting, Sam likes anything to do with engines, cars and racing. Dad even had to buy a petrol mower just to get him to cut the grass! He had his first driving lesson in a Mini Cooper at the age of 13, and due to his tractor driving experience, mastered it so well he was invited back to Rockingham to drive a lap of the motorspeedway circuit reaching 80mph. He does need to grow though! At first sight the little mini appears to be driverless.

The lovely VBH
Before karting took over our weekends, we attended many race events including F1 test days, Grand Prix week- ends, BTCC, Grand Prix Masters, WRC and Endurance events. Over the years Sam has met and collected many signatures from the good and great of motorsport including Juan Pablo Montoya, Mark Webber, David Coulthard, Nico Rosberg, Bruno Senna, Pedro De La Rosa, Antonio Pizzonia, Bobby Verdon-Roe, Jamie Campbell-Walter, Perry McCarthy (the Stig version 1), Matt Neal, Calum Lockie, Alan Gow, and the lovely Vikki Butler Henderson. We’ve even been seen on TV at the British GP a couple of years back!
Though the pride of his collection has to be the latest addition – a personalised message from F1 driver and TV commentator Martin Brundle.
